12 Step Treatment: Letting Go In An Addiction Center

12 Step Treatment: Agreeing With The Steps

Some people have a problem with rehab because they don’t believe in all the steps of a 12 step treatment program. That makes a lot of sense. If you don’t agree with any of the steps than a 12 step program won’t work for you. Believing in the steps and using them as a guide through your life as a sober person is necessary to achieve sobriety. That doesn’t mean you can’t get sober if you don’t partake in a 12 step program it just means that the 12 step program isn’t the right one for you.

Heroin Effects: Does My Friend Have A Problem?

Heroin is not a recreational drug. While there are cases were a person tries heroin once as some sort of rite of passage but even in those cases that person is taking a serious risk. Heroin is a highly addictive, highly mind-altering drug. It’s not something you do lightly. If your friend is engaging in heroin use even once or twice a week they are walking down a slippery slope and chances are they have become addicted. Also, anyone who thinks using heroin once a week or even once a month has a problem. There are serious heroin effects to a person’s body that are irreversible.

Addiction Center: Remembering Why You’re In There

Sometimes an addiction center is really hard on a recovering addict. If prior to stepping into rehab the addict was on a downward spiral and since being in rehab is doing great, they may feel that they have their addiction problem under control and do not need to be in rehab. It happens all the time and addict checks in, gets what they consider to be “clean” and exits rehab only to find out that they still have a very serious problem. In rehab they develop the, “I’m not like them,” complex and check out.
